All Cat and no Mouse!

It’s September and Mrs Mack is back! You may well ask where have I been and I am afraid the answer is not very exciting. I have been on Summer time and away from the land of Blog! Most likely lost in the desert of Blog but am now back! I have just put finger to laptop and have typed two quickies that I hope will generate some energy with the other Idle Wives who may have also suffered with summertime fever also.

My duvet morning has clearly unblocked the literary genius in me and whilst it is a bit ideal the notion of blogging from my bed using all the technology the twenty first century affords, I have to reconnect to my mouse to be able to upload these messages as I find the touchpad mouse thing sooooo irritating.

So, as my radio alarm has timed out again for the umpteenth time, I will bid farewell to my heated technological companion this morning, my four legged feline friend curled up at my feet and go and reconnect with my laptop’s outer mouse!

Calling all Idle Wives, it’s September, are you idle enough to blog?

What is your favourite technology?

I just received a text from my One and Only to say that they have arrived in the sunny South East and it is indeed sunny. Good for them! No doubt the lines are hitting the water as I type and I will get a media text with a photo attached once they get their first catch. Isn’t technology super duper?

What a world we live in! First thing I did once the men left the house this morning was fill the dishwasher and put it on. This technology always brings a smile to my face and holds a place towards the top of the list of favourites, but was maybe piped to the post today!  I put on the washing machine with a load of darks comprising mainly of smelly socks and grass stained jeans and rubbed my hands with glee. Ah, a woman’s work is never done!

So, after I put all the domestic machines in action, I decided to conserve energy myself and go back to bed. So I collected a bowl of cereal, my new book from the library and the good bits from the paper. One and Only had been kind enough to go out and get the paper and then leave it behind for me, love is! From the technology box, I collected my laptop which is not wireless as well as having battery power of two hours and my mobile for receiving texts and photo texts from the boys. I then turned on my clock radio and last but not least, my electric blanket! Yes you can guess, this girls’ best friend is her electric blanket!

What an invention! I got into bed, had my bowl of cereal and switched on the timer. I got through the good bits from the paper but was asleep in five minutes after that. I went on to enjoy seventy five minutes of bliss in my half of the bed with my feline friend curled up at me feet. Sunny South East eat your heart out!

I am really just a simple girl at heart, if someone ever invents a clothes folder device, I will die and go to heaven.  No iphone, facetime, no apps for me. Not even the order a book or name a tune Shazam or Runkeeper, keeping runs and load up directly to facebook App for me!

What are you doing today?

Today has got off to a great start for me and it looks like it will only get better as I am spending the day with me, myself and I!

My One and Only husband has taken our Darling Son fishing, about 120 miles away, as you know, he rarely does things by half! Going out the door, he left me a photocopy of where they are going saying that ‘If we are not back, this is where we will be’! Need I be concerned? No, even if it sounded like they were heading off to the Wild West rather than a day trip to the sunny South East.

So, our Saturday started around 8 o clock this morning, which is not a great time for me. I dream of us all sleeping in and missing football, just for once, while deep inside I know that this will never happen with due to the compulsive nature of this activity in my Darling Son’s psychic! But I can dream, especially as this was the end of the first week back at school and we are now officially firing on all cylinders. We are back at full steam ahead, even if that is only the full steam of one child.

Summer time is so different to term time and these few weeks transition are always challenging. So whilst he has been embracing his new regime, I have been embracing mine albeit in the form of returning to beautiful embracing September sea swims.

September is the most perfect time for sea swimming and this week I had the longest swim with one friend, a fortieth birthday swim and breakfast with another and lastly on Friday I had a swim with all the girls that got me started in the beginning, the yummy mummies who swim after school drop at nine o’ clock every day. This week the group included the fabulous four original members that I tag along with, a friend who joined in after me and low and behold, two husbands! Then we were coincidently joined by the original of the species, the legendry mother of six who inspired the group in the first place, I believe. It was a great swim and someone remarked as we all waddled in like a line of ducks ‘it looks like we came by bus, there was so many of us!’ It must be September!

So all this effort and more this week deserved a duvet morning! The Angelus bell is ringing; I think I will give myself one more hour. What a perfect way to spend the odd September Saturday morning!

So, what are you doing today?
